Getting the right planed timber

Matching old profiles

Bring an offcut or a clear profile photo with measurements and we will look for the closest current profile.

Nominal versus finished size

Planing takes material off, so a timber sold as 'nominal' 2 × 4 finishes smaller. Always check finished sizes when you need an exact fit.

How delivery works in Airdrie

Finished timber is protected and handled with care; tell us if it needs to go inside out of the weather. Airdrie is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around ML6 are priced to the exact address.
• Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
• Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.

Sizing your order

A 4.2 × 3.2 m room with one door has about 14 m of wall to skirt. With 10% for joints and offcuts that is 15.4 m, or 4 lengths of 4.2 m skirting, plus architrave for each side of the door.

Your questions answered

We can look for the closest current profile. Exact matches for old or bespoke profiles may need machining to order.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Airdrie?

How should I store planed timber?

Flat, off the ground and inside if possible, so it does not take on moisture and move before fitting.
