Before you order PIR insulation boards

Sealing joints

Tape the joints with foil tape so the foil layer works as a continuous vapour control layer where the design relies on it.

Thickness for the U-value

The thickness you need depends on the U-value the building regulations require and the rest of the build-up. Manufacturers publish U-value tables; your designer or building control will confirm.

Wales has its own Approved Documents, including its own Part L for energy efficiency, and building control is handled by the local authority or a registered approver.

Working out quantities for your Llanelli job

Insulating 36 m² of rafters, floor or wall takes 14 boards of 2400 × 1200 mm including offcuts. The thickness depends on the U-value you need, so check it before you order. Try the insulation calculator

Delivering PIR insulation boards in Llanelli

Boards are light but bulky; they travel in wrapped packs and should be stored flat and dry. Llanelli is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
• In summer Llanelli gets around 16h 40m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.

Questions about PIR insulation boards delivery in Llanelli

Can you deliver PIR insulation boards to a site with restricted access in Llanelli?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Llanelli?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

What is the foil for?

The foil facing reflects heat, protects the foam and, when joints are taped, can act as a vapour control layer.

How many PIR boards do I need?

Divide the area by 2.88 m² (one 2400 × 1200 board) and add about 5 to 10 percent for cutting.
