Picking the right product

Sealing joints

Tape the joints with foil tape so the foil layer works as a continuous vapour control layer where the design relies on it.

Fire considerations

PIR is a combustible product. Building regulations restrict combustible materials in some situations, such as external walls of taller buildings; check what applies.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Planning the drop in Chester-le-Street

Boards are light but bulky; they travel in wrapped packs and should be stored flat and dry. Chester-le-Street is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Give us the full postcode for the drop point; deliveries around DH3 are priced to the exact address.
  • Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
  • If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.

Questions about PIR insulation boards delivery in Chester-le-Street

How soon can PIR insulation boards be delivered in Chester-le-Street?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Chester-le-Street?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

How thick should PIR insulation be?

It depends on where it goes and the U-value required. Pitched roofs often need 100 mm or more between and under rafters; floors and walls vary. Use the maker's U-value tables or ask your designer.

What is the foil for?

The foil facing reflects heat, protects the foam and, when joints are taped, can act as a vapour control layer.
