Getting the right OSB, MDF and chipboard

Which flooring?

P5 chipboard flooring is the standard moisture-resistant floor deck. 18 mm is common at 400 mm joist centres and 22 mm at 600 mm centres, but follow the maker's span table.

OSB or plywood?

OSB3 is usually cheaper and fine for most structural decking in humid conditions. Plywood is stiffer, takes fixings near edges better and performs better where it may get wet.

Getting OSB, MDF and chipboard onto your Prestwich site

Sheets come in packs on the lorry bed, crane-lifted or hand-offloaded. Prestwich is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
