OSB, MDF & Chipboard: choosing well

OSB or plywood?

OSB3 is usually cheaper and fine for most structural decking in humid conditions. Plywood is stiffer, takes fixings near edges better and performs better where it may get wet.

Cutting MDF safely

MDF dust is fine; cut with extraction and wear suitable respiratory protection.

Estimating your OSB, MDF and chipboard

Decking 36 m² with 2440 × 1220 mm sheets takes 14 sheets including 10% for cutting. In P5 chipboard flooring (2400 × 600 mm) the same floor takes 28 boards.

Before your Lytham St Annes delivery arrives

Sheets come in packs on the lorry bed, crane-lifted or hand-offloaded. Lytham St Annes is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
• In summer Lytham St Annes gets around 17h 05m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
• Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.

OSB, MDF & Chipboard questions

How soon can OSB, MDF and chipboard be delivered in Lytham St Annes?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

Can OSB get wet?

OSB3 copes with humid conditions and short exposure during construction, but it should not be left in the rain for long or used where it stays wet.

What size are flooring boards?

Chipboard flooring is commonly 2400 × 600 mm with tongue-and-groove on all four edges.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Lytham St Annes?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
