Getting the right OSB, MDF and chipboard

Cutting MDF safely

MDF dust is fine; cut with extraction and wear suitable respiratory protection.

OSB or plywood?

OSB3 is usually cheaper and fine for most structural decking in humid conditions. Plywood is stiffer, takes fixings near edges better and performs better where it may get wet.

Getting OSB, MDF and chipboard onto your Bromsgrove site

Sheets come in packs on the lorry bed, crane-lifted or hand-offloaded. Bromsgrove is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.
• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.

Sizing your order

Decking 12 m² with 2440 × 1220 mm sheets takes 5 sheets including 10% for cutting. In P5 chipboard flooring (2400 × 600 mm) the same floor takes 10 boards.

OSB, MDF & Chipboard in Bromsgrove: questions

Is MDF waterproof?

No. Moisture-resistant MDF handles humid rooms better than standard MDF but must still be sealed and kept out of direct water.

Can OSB get wet?

OSB3 copes with humid conditions and short exposure during construction, but it should not be left in the rain for long or used where it stays wet.

Do you deliver OSB, MDF and chipboard to trades and homeowners in Bromsgrove?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.

Can I add other materials to my Bromsgrove delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from OSB, MDF and chipboard to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
