Estimating your OSB, MDF and chipboard

Decking 15 m² with 2440 × 1220 mm sheets takes 6 sheets including 10% for cutting. In P5 chipboard flooring (2400 × 600 mm) the same floor takes 12 boards.

Getting OSB, MDF and chipboard onto your Bentley site

Sheets come in packs on the lorry bed, crane-lifted or hand-offloaded. Bentley is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
• Deliveries are to the kerb, drive or within crane reach; ask if materials need to go further.

Getting the right OSB, MDF and chipboard

OSB or plywood?

OSB3 is usually cheaper and fine for most structural decking in humid conditions. Plywood is stiffer, takes fixings near edges better and performs better where it may get wet.

Which flooring?

P5 chipboard flooring is the standard moisture-resistant floor deck. 18 mm is common at 400 mm joist centres and 22 mm at 600 mm centres, but follow the maker's span table.

What size are flooring boards?

Chipboard flooring is commonly 2400 × 600 mm with tongue-and-groove on all four edges.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Bentley?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.

Can you deliver OSB, MDF and chipboard to a site with restricted access in Bentley?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

What is OSB3?

OSB3 is oriented strand board graded for load-bearing use in humid conditions under BS EN 300. It is the common grade for floors, roofs and sheathing.
