Things to check before you order
How deep?
Patios and paths commonly use around 100 mm of compacted sub-base, and domestic driveways around 150 mm or more. Soft ground or heavier vehicles need more; your designer or installer will confirm.
Compaction
Lay and compact in layers with a plate compactor. Allow extra material because it compacts down.
Getting MOT Type 1 onto your Denton site
Bulk bags are usually crane-offloaded where access allows; very large quantities can be priced as loose tipped loads where access allows. Denton is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
- With roughly 7h 28m of daylight in Denton around the shortest day, morning deliveries leave more working light for the job.
- Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
Your questions answered
How deep should a driveway sub-base be?
Around 150 mm of compacted MOT Type 1 is common for domestic drives on firm ground; soft ground or heavier vehicles need more. Follow your installer or the paving maker's guidance.
Is there a minimum order for delivery to Denton?
There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
Can you tip it loose?
For larger quantities we can price a loose tipped load if the lorry can reach and there is space to tip.
Can I add other materials to my Denton delivery?
Yes. Put everything on one list, from MOT Type 1 to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
