Picking the right product

Stud width and height

Taller walls need deeper studs or closer centres; the system maker's height tables show the limits.

Follow the system

Metal stud partitions and ceilings are designed as tested systems with specific boards, sections and screws. Order to the system specification, especially where fire or acoustic ratings apply.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Sizing your order

A 4.2 m metal stud partition at 600 mm centres needs 8 studs and 8.4 m of track, plus boards and self-drilling screws. Taller walls may need deeper studs or closer centres; follow the system maker's tables.

How delivery works in Ossett

Sections come in bundles in long lengths; tell us about access for 3 m plus lengths. Ossett is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
• Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
• In summer Ossett gets around 17h 05m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
