Metal Stud & Ceiling Systems: choosing well

Follow the system

Metal stud partitions and ceilings are designed as tested systems with specific boards, sections and screws. Order to the system specification, especially where fire or acoustic ratings apply.

Metal or timber?

Metal studs are straight, light and do not shrink or twist; timber is easier for fixing heavy items and is more familiar on domestic jobs.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

How delivery works in Bishop's Stortford

Sections come in bundles in long lengths; tell us about access for 3 m plus lengths. Bishop's Stortford is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
• Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.

Questions about metal studs and ceiling sections delivery in Bishop's Stortford

How soon can metal studs and ceiling sections be delivered in Bishop's Stortford?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

Are metal studs better than timber?

They are straight, light and dimensionally stable. Timber is often easier for domestic jobs and for fixing heavy items. Both work well when designed properly.

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
