Steel & Concrete Lintels delivery in Staffordshire

A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.

For sites in Staffordshire, our lintels prices include delivery to your postcode, with the offload agreed when you order.

Sizing your order

For a 1,800 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 2,100 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.

Before your Staffordshire delivery arrives

Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Staffordshire.

  • Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
  • If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.

Choosing lintels

Do I need a cavity tray?

Over openings in cavity walls, water in the cavity has to be directed outwards. Many steel lintels need a separate cavity tray and stop ends; check the lintel maker's detail.

Steel or concrete?

Steel cavity lintels support both leaves and include insulation to limit cold bridging. Concrete lintels are simple and robust for single leaves and internal walls.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

Your questions answered

Do you deliver lintels to Staffordshire?

Yes. We deliver across Staffordshire, including ST, DE, WS, B. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Staffordshire. Send your list or call 0800 088 6341 and we will price it delivered to your postcode.

Can you deliver lintels to a site with restricted access in Staffordshire?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Can you tell me which lintel to use?

We can suggest options from the manufacturers' load tables based on the opening, wall type and load you describe, but for anything structural the final choice should come from your designer or engineer, and be approved through building control.

Are steel lintels insulated?

Cavity wall steel lintels usually have insulation inside to cut heat loss at the opening. Single-leaf and box lintels may not.
