Steel & Concrete Lintels delivered to Romford
A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.
SK Trade prices lintels delivered to Romford and the rest of Greater London, so the cost and the delivery date are agreed before anything is loaded.

Which lintels can you order in Romford?
- PadstonesConcrete pads that spread the load at the ends of beams and lintels.
- Steel cavity wall lintelsInsulated galvanised lintels that support both leaves of a cavity wall.
- Cavity trays and stop endsTo shed water out of the cavity over openings.
- Prestressed concrete lintelsPlain concrete lintels for inner leaves and internal openings.
- Single-leaf and box lintelsFor solid walls, timber frame and internal walls.
Before you order lintels
Do I need a cavity tray?
Over openings in cavity walls, water in the cavity has to be directed outwards. Many steel lintels need a separate cavity tray and stop ends; check the lintel maker's detail.
Steel or concrete?
Steel cavity lintels support both leaves and include insulation to limit cold bridging. Concrete lintels are simple and robust for single leaves and internal walls.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
Sizing your order
For a 1,200 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 1,500 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.
How delivery works in Romford
Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Romford is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- In summer Romford gets around 16h 39m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
- Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.
Steel & Concrete Lintels in Romford: questions
What is a padstone for?
It spreads a concentrated load, such as the end of a beam, over a larger area of masonry so the blocks or bricks underneath are not crushed.
Can you deliver lintels to a site with restricted access in Romford?
Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
Can you tell me which lintel to use?
We can suggest options from the manufacturers' load tables based on the opening, wall type and load you describe, but for anything structural the final choice should come from your designer or engineer, and be approved through building control.
Is there a minimum order for delivery to Romford?
There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
