Steel & Concrete Lintels delivered to Monifieth
A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.
We deliver lintels to sites, driveways and yards across Monifieth, from a single pallet for a small job to full loads for bigger builds.

Quantities: a worked example
For a 1,800 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 2,100 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.
Getting lintels onto your Monifieth site
Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Monifieth is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- In summer Monifieth gets around 17h 45m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
- Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
- For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
Before you order lintels
Do I need a cavity tray?
Over openings in cavity walls, water in the cavity has to be directed outwards. Many steel lintels need a separate cavity tray and stop ends; check the lintel maker's detail.
Steel or concrete?
Steel cavity lintels support both leaves and include insulation to limit cold bridging. Concrete lintels are simple and robust for single leaves and internal walls.
In Scotland most building work needs a building warrant from the local authority, assessed against the Building Standards Technical Handbooks.
Ordering lintels for Monifieth: FAQs
How long should a lintel be?
The clear opening plus the end bearing at each side, typically at least 150 mm per end. Check the manufacturer's table for your lintel.
Can you deliver lintels to a site with restricted access in Monifieth?
Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
Can you tell me which lintel to use?
We can suggest options from the manufacturers' load tables based on the opening, wall type and load you describe, but for anything structural the final choice should come from your designer or engineer, and be approved through the council's building standards service.
How soon can lintels be delivered in Monifieth?
We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.
