Steel & Concrete Lintels delivered to Llanelli

A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.

Trades and homeowners in Llanelli can order lintels for delivery by sending a list, a drawing or just the sizes of the job.

Planning the drop in Llanelli

Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Llanelli is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
  • For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
  • On busy streets in Llanelli, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.

Choosing lintels

Steel or concrete?

Steel cavity lintels support both leaves and include insulation to limit cold bridging. Concrete lintels are simple and robust for single leaves and internal walls.

Do I need a cavity tray?

Over openings in cavity walls, water in the cavity has to be directed outwards. Many steel lintels need a separate cavity tray and stop ends; check the lintel maker's detail.

Wales has its own Approved Documents, including its own Part L for energy efficiency, and building control is handled by the local authority or a registered approver.

A quick quantity check

For a 900 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 1,200 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.

Ordering lintels for Llanelli: FAQs

Are steel lintels insulated?

Cavity wall steel lintels usually have insulation inside to cut heat loss at the opening. Single-leaf and box lintels may not.

How soon can lintels be delivered in Llanelli?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

Can you tell me which lintel to use?

We can suggest options from the manufacturers' load tables based on the opening, wall type and load you describe, but for anything structural the final choice should come from your designer or engineer, and be approved through building control.

Is there a minimum order for delivery to Llanelli?

There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
