Order lintels for delivery in Derby
A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.
SK Trade prices lintels delivered to Derby and the rest of Derbyshire, so the cost and the delivery date are agreed before anything is loaded.

Things to check before you order
Which lintel for my opening?
Measure the clear opening, add the end bearing each side, and note the wall type (cavity width, inner and outer leaf) and what sits above. Manufacturers publish load tables; for anything carrying a floor, roof or point load get an engineer or building control to confirm.
Steel or concrete?
Steel cavity lintels support both leaves and include insulation to limit cold bridging. Concrete lintels are simple and robust for single leaves and internal walls.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
Planning the drop in Derby
Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Derby is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
- Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
A quick quantity check
For a 1,200 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 1,500 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.
Steel & Concrete Lintels in Derby: questions
Is there a minimum order for delivery to Derby?
There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
Can lintels be delivered with my blocks?
Yes. We combine them on one lorry where the lengths and the route allow.
Do you deliver lintels to trades and homeowners in Derby?
Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
Are steel lintels insulated?
Cavity wall steel lintels usually have insulation inside to cut heat loss at the opening. Single-leaf and box lintels may not.
