Steel & Concrete Lintels delivered to Coventry
A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.
Whether it is a repair, an extension or a new build in Coventry, we can supply the lintels and deliver to site.

Steel & Concrete Lintels: choosing well
Do I need a cavity tray?
Over openings in cavity walls, water in the cavity has to be directed outwards. Many steel lintels need a separate cavity tray and stop ends; check the lintel maker's detail.
Steel or concrete?
Steel cavity lintels support both leaves and include insulation to limit cold bridging. Concrete lintels are simple and robust for single leaves and internal walls.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
How much will you need?
For a 1,500 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 1,800 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.
Before your Coventry delivery arrives
Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Coventry is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
- With roughly 7h 40m of daylight in Coventry around the shortest day, morning deliveries leave more working light for the job.
- If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
Steel & Concrete Lintels in Coventry: questions
Is there a minimum order for delivery to Coventry?
There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
Do I need building control approval for a new lintel?
Making or widening an opening in a loadbearing wall is structural work, so in most cases yes. Building control or an engineer will confirm the lintel.
Do you deliver lintels to trades and homeowners in Coventry?
Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
How long should a lintel be?
The clear opening plus the end bearing at each side, typically at least 150 mm per end. Check the manufacturer's table for your lintel.
