Steel & Concrete Lintels delivered to Coulsdon
A lintel is a beam that carries the masonry over a door or window opening; most UK houses use galvanised steel cavity lintels or prestressed concrete lintels.
We deliver lintels to sites, driveways and yards across Coulsdon, from a single pallet for a small job to full loads for bigger builds.

Getting lintels onto your Coulsdon site
Lintels are long, so tell us about tight access. Shorter lintels can travel with a mixed load; long steel lintels are handled by hand or crane. Coulsdon is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
- In summer Coulsdon gets around 16h 36m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
- If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
Sizing your order
For a 2,100 mm clear opening, add at least 150 mm of bearing at each end: the lintel needs to be at least 2,400 mm long. Then pick the type for the wall build-up and check the load in the manufacturer's table, or ask your engineer if the opening carries a floor or roof.
Things to check before you order
Which lintel for my opening?
Measure the clear opening, add the end bearing each side, and note the wall type (cavity width, inner and outer leaf) and what sits above. Manufacturers publish load tables; for anything carrying a floor, roof or point load get an engineer or building control to confirm.
Do I need a cavity tray?
Over openings in cavity walls, water in the cavity has to be directed outwards. Many steel lintels need a separate cavity tray and stop ends; check the lintel maker's detail.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
Common questions from Coulsdon
What is a padstone for?
It spreads a concentrated load, such as the end of a beam, over a larger area of masonry so the blocks or bricks underneath are not crushed.
How long should a lintel be?
The clear opening plus the end bearing at each side, typically at least 150 mm per end. Check the manufacturer's table for your lintel.
Can I add other materials to my Coulsdon delivery?
Yes. Put everything on one list, from lintels to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
Is there a minimum order for delivery to Coulsdon?
There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
