Bulk bags: sizes, weights and delivery
A builders' bulk bag typically holds around 850 kg of sand or aggregate, about half a cubic metre, though weights vary by supplier; bags are lifted off the lorry by its crane and set down on a firm, level spot.

How much is in a bag?
Most bulk bags hold around 850 kg, but the exact weight varies by supplier and product. Because sand and aggregates weigh around 1.5 to 1.8 tonnes per cubic metre, a bag is roughly half a cubic metre.
Where can a bag go?
Bags are lifted by the lorry's crane, so the drop point must be within reach of the crane and clear of overhead cables. A full bag is heavy: block paving, soft lawns and thin tarmac can mark or sink.
Keeping it clean
Cover bags to keep sand at a workable moisture content and stop leaves and debris getting in. Use the material from the top down.
Bags or loose loads?
For large quantities, a loose tipped load can work out better if the lorry can reach and there is space to tip. Bags are tidier on small sites.
