Quantities: a worked example
Setting 6 fence posts in Cornwall usually takes 6 to 12 bags of 20 kg post mix, depending on the hole size printed on the bag. For a base bigger than about half a cubic metre, all-in ballast and cement are usually better value. Compare with site-mixed concrete
Before your Cornwall delivery arrives
Bags come on a pallet or with a mixed load. Our standard mainland delivery area covers Cornwall.
- For a phased build we can split the order so materials arrive as each stage starts, which keeps the site clear.
- Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
- Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
Choosing bagged concrete and mortar
Check the yield
Each bag states the volume it makes. Divide your volume by the yield to get the number of bags.
Post mix quantities
Most makers say how many bags per post; it depends on the hole size.
Your questions answered
Is bagged concrete strong enough for a shed base?
For a small base it can be. Follow the bag's guidance on depth and the shed maker's base requirements.
Can you deliver bagged concrete and mortar to a site with restricted access in Cornwall?
Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.
Is there a minimum order for delivery to Cornwall?
There is no fixed minimum. For very small orders we will tell you honestly if the delivery cost outweighs the materials, so you can decide.
How many bags of post mix per post?
Usually one or two 20 kg bags per standard fence post, depending on the hole size. The bag will state the recommended amount.
