Choosing cement
How much cement do I need?
Work from the mix: a 1:4 mortar or a 1:5 concrete mix tells you the share of cement. Our calculators turn wall or slab sizes into bags.
Working in cold weather
Mortar and concrete should not be laid when temperatures are near freezing. Protect fresh work from frost.
Delivering cement in Thamesmead
Bags come on a shrink-wrapped pallet or as part of a mixed load; keep them covered once dropped. Thamesmead is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- If the drop point is block paving or soft ground, say so; heavy pallets and bulk bags can mark or sink.
- Tell us the best drop point, such as a driveway, front garden or the kerb, and whether a lorry can park close to it.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
