Building sand colour changes the mortar colour. For matching existing joints, a sample is worth it.

Soft or sharp?

Use soft building sand for mortar because it gives a smooth, sticky mix. Use sharp sand where strength and drainage matter: screeds, concrete and paving beds.

Planning the drop in Penarth

Bulk bags are usually crane-lifted onto a drive or kerb where the vehicle and access allow; small bags travel with a mixed load. Penarth is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

• Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
• Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
• Clear a level area for pallets, ideally on boards, so materials stay out of standing water.
