Building & Sharp Sand: choosing well
Soft or sharp?
Use soft building sand for mortar because it gives a smooth, sticky mix. Use sharp sand where strength and drainage matter: screeds, concrete and paving beds.
Colour of mortar
Building sand colour changes the mortar colour. For matching existing joints, a sample is worth it.
Planning the drop in Huddersfield
Bulk bags are usually crane-lifted onto a drive or kerb where the vehicle and access allow; small bags travel with a mixed load. Huddersfield is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- Have someone on site for the delivery if you can, or agree a safe drop point with us in advance.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
- If the site is up a shared drive or behind other houses, tell us the distance from the road.
