Picking the right product

Colour consistency

Order everything for one job at the same time so the bricks come from the same production run, then mix from three or four packs as you lay to blend any variation.

Engineering Class A or B?

Class A is the denser of the two and is usually chosen where strength or very low water absorption matters; Class B is the common choice below DPC and for manholes; a brick DPC course in a building needs Class A (DPC1). Your designer or building control may specify one.

Wales has its own Approved Documents, including its own Part L for energy efficiency, and building control is handled by the local authority or a registered approver.

Before your Rhyl delivery arrives

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Rhyl is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • On busy streets in Rhyl, a parking suspension or a quiet time slot can make offloading safer, so tell us about local restrictions you know of.
  • Keep cement, plaster and boards dry: have a tarpaulin or a garage space ready before they arrive.
  • Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.

Working out quantities for your Rhyl job

Take a garden wall in Rhyl 4 m long and 1.8 m high: 7.2 m². At 60 bricks per square metre plus 5% for cuts that is 454 bricks, roughly 1 pack of 500 depending on the maker, laid in about 0.43 tonnes of building sand and 4 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Try the brick calculator

Your questions answered

Can you deliver bricks to a site with restricted access in Rhyl?

Usually, yes. Tell us about the access when you ask for a price and we will plan the vehicle and offload, or say if a smaller vehicle is needed.

Which bricks go below the damp-proof course?

Below DPC you need bricks that cope with constant damp and frost: engineering bricks, or clay facings declared F2 and S2. Concrete bricks are another option for below-ground work.

Can you match my existing bricks?

Often, yes. Send the brick name if you have it, or a daylight photo of a clean face with a tape measure for scale. We will look for the nearest match in current ranges and can usually arrange a sample before you commit to a full order.

Can I add other materials to my Rhyl delivery?

Yes. Put everything on one list, from bricks to fixings and PPE, and we will price it as one delivery where the products can travel together.
