Getting bricks onto your Irvinestown site

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Deliveries to Northern Ireland include a sea crossing, so we quote each order individually.

• Weight limits on bridges or private roads near the site matter for larger lorries, so mention any you know of.
• If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
• With roughly 7h 16m of daylight in Irvinestown around the shortest day, morning deliveries leave more working light for the job.

Choosing bricks

Engineering Class A or B?

Class A is the denser of the two and is usually chosen where strength or very low water absorption matters; Class B is the common choice below DPC and for manholes; a brick DPC course in a building needs Class A (DPC1). Your designer or building control may specify one.

Matching an existing house

Bring us the brick name if you know it, or a clear photo of a cleaned face in daylight with a tape measure for scale. Size matters as much as colour: older imperial bricks are often slightly larger than 65 mm.

In Northern Ireland building work follows the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland), with guidance in the Technical Booklets, and applications go to the council's building control team.

Common questions from Irvinestown

Can you match my existing bricks?

Often, yes. Send the brick name if you have it, or a daylight photo of a clean face with a tape measure for scale. We will look for the nearest match in current ranges and can usually arrange a sample before you commit to a full order.

How many bricks are in a square metre?

With standard 215 × 65 mm bricks and 10 mm mortar joints you need about 60 bricks per square metre for a single-skin (half-brick) wall and about 120 for a one-brick-thick wall. Add around 5 percent for cuts and breakages.
