Things to check before you order
Colour consistency
Order everything for one job at the same time so the bricks come from the same production run, then mix from three or four packs as you lay to blend any variation.
Engineering Class A or B?
Class A is the denser of the two and is usually chosen where strength or very low water absorption matters; Class B is the common choice below DPC and for manholes; a brick DPC course in a building needs Class A (DPC1). Your designer or building control may specify one.
In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.
Getting bricks onto your Deal site
Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Deal is inside our standard mainland delivery area.
- Pallets left on a pavement can block the footway, so plan a drop point inside your boundary where you can.
- If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
- In summer Deal gets around 16h 35m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
