Things to check before you order

Matching an existing house

Bring us the brick name if you know it, or a clear photo of a cleaned face in daylight with a tape measure for scale. Size matters as much as colour: older imperial bricks are often slightly larger than 65 mm.

Colour consistency

Order everything for one job at the same time so the bricks come from the same production run, then mix from three or four packs as you lay to blend any variation.

In England, building work is checked against the Approved Documents, for example Part A for structure and Part L for energy efficiency, through your council's building control team or a registered building control approver.

How much will you need?

Take a garden wall in Bordon 8 m long and 1.5 m high: 12 m². At 60 bricks per square metre plus 5% for cuts that is 756 bricks, roughly 2 packs of 500 depending on the maker, laid in about 0.71 tonnes of building sand and 7 bags of cement at a 1:4 mix. Try the brick calculator

How delivery works in Bordon

Bricks come in strapped packs, usually on a pallet, and are lifted off by a lorry-mounted crane where the drop point allows. Bordon is inside our standard mainland delivery area.

  • If neighbours share the access, it helps to let them know a lorry is coming.
  • In summer Bordon gets around 16h 34m of daylight, but early deliveries still beat the traffic and give the longest working day.
  • Mention any overhead cables, low branches or narrow gateways, because they decide whether a crane offload is possible.

Your questions answered

How many bricks are in a square metre?

With standard 215 × 65 mm bricks and 10 mm mortar joints you need about 60 bricks per square metre for a single-skin (half-brick) wall and about 120 for a one-brick-thick wall. Add around 5 percent for cuts and breakages.

How soon can bricks be delivered in Bordon?

We confirm the delivery date when we price your order, before you commit. It depends on the product, the quantity and whether it is a stock line or made to order.

Which bricks go below the damp-proof course?

Below DPC you need bricks that cope with constant damp and frost: engineering bricks, or clay facings declared F2 and S2. Concrete bricks are another option for below-ground work.

Do you deliver bricks to trades and homeowners in Bordon?

Both. Trades can apply for a trade account; homeowners and self-builders can order on a delivered quote.
